Seminar of the Georgian Mathematical Union

On April 15, Thursday, 2010, at Ivane Javakhishvili State University, Faculty of Natural Sciences (the building of former Faculty of Biology, opposite to the University tower in Saburtalo) Room 105 Georgian Mathematical Union  is organizing the Seminar. Professor Eugen Shargorodsky (King's College, London University GB) will deliver the talk

The resolvent norm and pseudospectra of a linear operator

From 16 h. 15 m. you are invited to tea and coffee

                                                      Committee of Seminars

                                 Abstract of the talk

The talk will address the following questions:
1) Can the norm of the resolvent of a linear operator take a finite
constant value on an open set?
2) Is the pseudospectrum of a bounded linear operator defined with the
help of a non-strict inequality equal to the union of the spectra of
perturbed operators?)

Statute of Seminars of the Georgian Mathematical Union

Georgian Mathematical Union decide to resume the Seminars of  Georgian Mathematical Union. To this end the Committee of Seminars was established consisting of Roland Duduchava (Differential Equations, Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing), Vakhtang Kokilashvili (Analysis, Probability Theory and Statistics), and Tornike Kadeishvili (Algebra, Topology and Logic).
It was decided, that talks on the seminar will be done only by invitation of the Committee. In Future, when we can afford it, the talks will become
payable.
We plan to work out detailed statute of the seminar. We ask to send your ideas and suggestions via e-mail mentioned below.
